ORCHARD SCHOOL PROGRAMS

PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM:  The Orchard School takes great pride in being an extremely academic school that disguises all academics in fun fun fun.  Students at the Orchard School never want to go home because they enjoy learning, having fun, and being with friends in our warm supportive student-centered and family environment.  Call today for more information, a tour of our facility, and a thorough parent packet that explains our curriculum and policies.

24/7 CHILDCARE AT THE ORCHARD SCHOOL:  Students contracted at the Orchard School are able to use our 24/7 childcare on a drop in basis as needed.  This service is provided to families who are contracted with the Orchard School full time.

BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL CARE FOR SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS:  Whether your child is in elementary school or middle school the Orchard School can offer your child tutoring and homework help.  They can be part of the drawing class as part of their contracted care, or join our private piano music program (ask about rates).  Orchard School staff walk Wilson Elementary School student to and from school daily and parents from nearby towns transport their students to our school for before/after school care.  SCHOOL AGE LATCH KEY PROGRAM:  A program for older children who walk to the Orchard School after elementary school (Grover Cleveland Middle School) because they are not quite ready to be out in the world alone after school.  Call for more information.

PRESCHOOL MUSIC AND MOTION CLASSES:  The music and motion class is a part of the basic curriculum of the Orchard School preschool and kindergarten classes, but your child is invited to participate in this class as a drop-in student as well.  Music class is a fun and exciting way for your child to meet new friends, improve social and music skills, learn music theory, and play a variety of different instruments.  In this 30-minute class these young musicians are not only learning they are also playing and having a great time.  Come checks us out for a free introductory class.  (Classes start at $15 per class with advanced payment packages available.)

PRESCHOOL PRIVATE PIANO LESSONS: offers your child an early beginning to his/her music endeavors.  The earlier you begin the easier it for children to learn the art of music.  It is like learning another language and if you start young they will cement the elementary skills into their other developing skills.  Children are like sponges so take advantage of this time of their lives and come to the Orchard School to begin your preschooler’s private individual/group piano lessons.  In group music group lessons your child will have fun learning how to read music, music theory, and music history in a fun and exciting preschool environment.

SCHOOL AGE PRIVATE PIANO LESSONS:   School-Age children are developing a passion for music with each year that goes by.  They hear music everywhere they go: on the radio, on TV, at a school concert, in the park, friends singing, and even at the supermarket. Give your child the gift of music at the Orchard School.  Not only will your child learn to play the piano, learn to read music using a note speller workbook, learn theory, but also to play other instruments like the penny whistle, and use their voice as an instrument.  So whether your child wants to play the piano or another instrument these private lessons are a must since you can easily build off of the basic knowledge learned as a foundation for reading music and playing other instruments.  Most musicians begin their musical career with the piano; so come join us today we can’t wait to have your child join us for piano lessons. (Lessons are for all ages to adult)

DRAWING CLASSES AT THE ORCHARD SCHOOL:  Preschool and Kindergarten students at the Orchard School are already benefiting from a well-rounded arts/sciences curriculum that includes all artistic skills.  School age students (Before/After School Contracted Care Students) at the Orchard School are busy with tutoring and homework help group as well as drawing class.  The Drawing class is open to contracted Orchard School students as well as drop in Drawing Class Students.  This class offers these students the opportunity to express themselves and also increase their confidence as they learn the art of sketching.  Other artistic mediums used as well.

SOCIAL SKILLS AS AN ART:  Social Skills Development is an Art in and of itself.  It is the basic foundation that every other aspect of life is built on.  In today’s society we focus so hard on math and science, and often forget about the social arts.  At the Orchard School your child will benefit from a comprehensive curriculum that focuses on math, science, and arts (including social skill development).  If you think your child could benefit from a well-rounded program that also focuses on your child’s social skill development than the Orchard School is the place for your child.  (Come for a tour of the facility and also receive information about rates and policy.)

They will cover the following topics at least once daily (repetition helps them master information):  calendar, Months, Days of the week, weather, seasons, time, numbers, letters, body parts, senses, colors, shapes, sizes, Suzuki and Hooked on Phonics (letter sounds), quantitative and spatial concepts, show and tell, and social studies (speaking in front of the group sharing information about themselves -Who am I), all the while building self esteem and confidence.  Circle time is also a time to sing songs (especially the alphabet and number songs learned in music class.  The teacher will also read books and allow the children to demonstrate their listening skills by utilizing memory, ability to predict things in the story, practice with logical thinking, creativity, language, and comprehension as they join the teacher in an interactive discussion before, during, and after the story.  Although, the summer is less academic, the children will still have circle time daily to keep all learning fresh in their minds.
